Microsoft Windows 7 and Apple OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Microsoft and Apple have both recently introduced new operating systems. If you have one of these new operating systems - Windows 7 or 10.6 Snow Leopard - or are considering upgrading to either of them, you may need to download and install new drivers to make sure your modem continues to function correctly.
If you have a Huawei modem, and you are using Windows 7, you will not need to do anything and your modem should continue to work. Of course, you'll need to install the connection software (dashboard) off the modem if you haven't already - just insert the modem and follow the instructions.
If you have a Huawei modem, and you are using 10.6 (Snow Leopard), your modem will work if you selected the option of installing Rosetta when you first upgraded/installed Snow Leopard. If you chose not to install Rosetta, when you try and install the connection software it should prompt you to download and install Rosetta. Follow the instructions to proceed. You may need to use an alternative method of connecting to the internet to download Rosetta.
If you have a ZTE MF627 and have already upgraded to Windows 7 or Snow Leopard, your modem will not work until you download the firmware updates. You will be able to install the dashboard software (and you should do this!) but you will not be able to connect. Once you have installed the dashboard, using an alternative connection, or on another computer, go to www.three.co.uk/Help_Support/About_my_mobile/Downloads and select ZTE and then MF627. You will then have the option to download the correct firmware for your modem - either Driver Setup - For Windows 7 Only or Driver Setup - For Mac 10.6 Only. Click the correct link to download the .exe/.zip file, and if you are using an alternative computer, transfer the .exe/.zip file to the computer that has Windows 7 or Snow Leopard already installed.
Plug in your modem, double click on the .exe/.zip file and follow the on screen instructions to install the firmware. It is very important that you do not remove the modem during this process, and that you do not switch your computer off before it is finished. If you have a laptop, make sure it is plugged into the wall, or you have at least an hour of battery charge left.
Once installed, remove your modem and restart your computer. Your modem will now work.
If you have a ZTE MF627 modem, and you are planning on upgrading to Windows 7 or Snow Leopard, you should make sure you have upgraded your modem's firmware beforehand. Go to www.three.co.uk/Help_Support/About_my_mobile/Downloads and select ZTE and then MF627. You will then have the option to download the correct firmware for your modem - either Modem Upgrader - For Windows 7 Only or Modem Upgrader - For Mac 10.6 Only. Download the file to your desktop.
Plug in your modem, double click on the .exe/.zip file on your desktop and follow the on screen instructions to install the modem upgrade. It is very important that you do not remove the modem during this process, and that you do not switch your computer off before it is finished. If you have a laptop, make sure it is plugged into the wall, or you have at least an hour of battery charge left.
Once installed, remove your modem and restart your computer. Your modem will now be ready for when you upgrade your operating system.
