Setting up the MiFi modem dashboard (Three Mobile Broadband Manager) on your PC

Your MiFi modem has an in-built dashboard (Three Mobile Broadband Manager) that appears every time you connect it to a laptop or PC with the USB cable. The dashboard is a useful tool
that lets you:

Setting up Connection Manager

With the modem switched off, connect your MiFi modem to your computer using the supplied USB cable.

After a short wait, a message should appear in the bottom right of the screen. This means the computer has recognised the modem and is preparing to install it.

The AutoPlay window will now appear. Click Run AutoRun.exe. If the AutoPlay window doesn't appear automatically, you can open it by opening Windows Explorer (hold down the Windows button and E) and double clicking on CD Drive (X:) Three Mobile and then DataCard_Setup.exe

If you have Vista, depending on how you have it set up, you may see a screen like this. Click Allow to continue.

The Three Mobile Broadband Manager Setup window will appear. Click Next.

A License Agreement will appear. Read the agreement and click I Agree. If you do not wish to proceed, click Cancel. You will not be able to install and use Three Mobile Broadband Manager unless you click I Agree.

You'll be asked to chose an install location. It will default to installing in your Program Files. If this is OK, click Next. if you'd like to specify another location, click Browse, and locate the folder. Then click Next.

Next you can select the Start Menu Folder for the program's shortcut. It will automatically create a new folder called Three Mobile Braodband Manager. If this is OK, click Install, otherwise highlight the folder you'd like to use and then click Install.

The installation window will appear. You can follow the progress of the installation via the green bar. Don't worry if it seems to be taking a while. Sometimes is looks like it might have stopped when the green bar gets towards the very end, but it hasn't.

When the installation is complete you'll see this window. You need to restart before you can use Three Mobile Broadband Manager, so disconnect your MiFi modem, select Reboot now and then Finish. If you're not ready to restart your computer, select I want to manually reboot later and click Finish.

Once you have restarted your computer, connect the MiFi modem to a USB port.

The Autoplay window may appear. you can just close this.

Start the Three Mobile Broadband Manager by going to Start > All Programs > Three Mobile Broadband Manager. There should also be a shortcut on your desktop. The first time you start the program it will ask if you want to change your network Name (SSID) and WiFi Key (the password). We'd recommend that you do this, for improved security. If you want to, click Yes. Otherwise, click No.

If you clicked Yes, the Quick Setup tab will open. In the Name (SSID) field type the name you'd like to give your network. This is the name you'll see when scanning for available networks. In the WPA-PSK (TKIP) field, type your preferred password. Try and use a combination of letters and numbers for added security.

Don't change anything in the Dial-up Settings section below.

Click Save.

Next, click the green WIFI Open button. It will turn red and say WIFI Closed. Click it again to turn it back on. This is just to reset the connection and ensure the changes made are retained.

Make sure you are recieving a signal by checking the icon in the bottom left of the window. It should indicate at least one bar (the more bars, the stronger the signal). You can now connect to the internet. Click on the Connection tab and click on the Connection button.

A connecting window will appear.

Once the MiFi modem is connected, the Connecting window will close and the Connect button will change to Disconnect.

If you want to end the connection, click Disconnect.
